Rest days at Mission Beach

We have just spent a lazy few days here at Mission Beach - the council caravan park is basic but nice and quiet and so close to the beach that it is great just walking along the beach and lying in the tent reading books. Below are a few photos of mission beach.

Above - sunrise at Mission Beach

Above - Dunk Island - you can cross there by ferry and it does have a resort but the majority of the island is a national park.

Above - not too many people on the beach at any one time!!!

Above - coconut trees galore!

Above - a native!

Above - a view from inside the tent ... not they are NOT my ugly feet but Neils!
It has been lovely staying here and it surprised us just how nice the small township actually is at it is a popular place for all types of travellers. Very popular with the backpacker in their wicked campers!
Have to say thou Neil has killed our bbq silicon mat - we cooked rissoles on it on the first night and since the caravan park has really basic facilities (ie no running hot water in the kitchen, laundry and only in the shower) we couldn't clean it as it was covered in fat so Neil in all his wisdom said we will clean it with the breaky dishes the next morning and boil up some hot water ... so I thought yep that is okay but in the morning he had the bright idea to rub it in sand to get rid off the bulk of the fat and next thing you know he is down on the beach rubbing it in sand ... so when I came to washing it in the hot water ... I got rid of the fat but couldn't get rid of the sand as residual fat stays on the silicon mat and so sand sticks to the fat!!! good one Neil!
